Udaynarayanpur Madhabilata Mahavidyalaya is located at Udaynarayanpur in the Western frontier of Howrah district. Historical importance and cultural heritage of the surrounding ares are very rich. During the ancient period it was a part of ‘Bhurishretsha Kingdom. There are relics of temples, and palaces of famous queen Bhabasankari Devi in a nearby village. Famous poets like Raygunakar Bharat Chandra Roy, Hemchandra Bandyopadhay, Sridhar Achyarya born in and around this locality.
The college is situated on the west bank of river Damodar which separates the district of Howrah from the Hooghly. With vast green fields, large open space different varieties of trees and perennial flowing water surrounding, the college has a fascinating natural beauty. The institution has been named after Late Madhabilata Devi, wife of local ex-Jamindar Saradacharan Chattopadhay for continuous moral and financial support for of her daughters & sons the establishment of this college.
