CBSE Class 12 accounts paper lengthy too

Updated On 2016-03-18 09:42:28 Exams

The response to the accounts paper is, at best, mixed. Most students found it easy but lengthy. Once again, many left questions unattempted.

"The paper was easy but terribly lenghty," says Guneet Gandhiok, student of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj. There were some surprises. "The company balance sheet question that has been coming every time for years, didn't this time," she says. Gandhiok wasn't able to complete the calculations for the last two questions. "Most of us have left four-five marks of calculations." She believes the paper was "not set properly" as there are two similar questions -- an eight-marker and a six-marker -- on "re-evaluation, partner's capital and balance sheet."

"There's nothing from out of the syllabus in the accounts paper but it was very long," says Tania Joshi, principal, The Indian School. The theory part "was a bit tricky." Most of her studens have left five-six marks of questions unattempted. After mathematics, commerce stream students expect to score the most in accounts.

Ekta Kandhari who teachers the subject at Ahlcon International School, Mayur Vihar, says her students found "the calculations lengthy." "Students were not able to complete and have left 10-15 marks unanswered. The top student was able to complete but not recheck the paper," she says.

However, not everyone is of the same view. "The question-paper was as per the CBSE syllabus with a good balance of theory and practical elements. It was not lengthy and can be completed within the stipulated time. It incorporates theory questions based on the last change in the Indian Companies Act," she says. Shreshth Arora of Presidium School, Ashok Vihar, was able to complete. He found it "lengthy but not very difficult."
