Geet Siriram Sethi of India is a professional player of English billiards who dominated the sport throughout much of the 1990s, and a notable amateur snooker player. He co-founded Olympic Gold Quest, a Foundation for the Promotion of Sports in India, along with Prakash Padukone. He has been the archrival of Mike Russell - an eleven-time professional World Champion in the 1990s and has beaten him in many of the games during this period. Sethi too is a winner of several world championships. A notable amateur snooker player, he won amateur World Championships three times and professional-level games six times. Geet is a recipient of numerous sports awards including Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 1992-1993, Padma Shri and the Arjuna Award in 1986; and the K.K. Birla Award in 1993.
He was born in Delhi in 1961. Sethi won his first major English billiards event in 1982. He beat Michael Ferreira in Indian National Billiards Championship to claim the title. After that he won Indian National Billiards Championship four years in a row. He won IBSF World Amateur Billiards Championships in 1985, and then began the rise of a new Indian star in English Billiards. He won the same title again two years later. Though played brilliantly over the years, he never achieved the top position in ranking. Sethi won his first major English billiards event in 1982.
