About P. V. Sindhu

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian badminton player. She trains at Hyderabad's Gopichand Badminton Academy and is supported by Olympic Gold Quest, a not-for-profit foundation that identifies and supports Indian athletes.


Career Highlights:

2009-In the international circuit, Sindhu was a bronze medallist at the 2009 Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships held in Colombo.

2010-At the 2010 Iran Fajr International Badminton Challenge, she won the silver medal in the singles category.Sindhu reached the quarterfinals of the 2010 Junior World Badminton Championships that was held in Mexico.She was a team member in India's national team at the 2010 Uber Cup.

2013-On 10 August 2013, Sindhu became the first ever Indian woman to win a medal in singles at the World Championships.She won Macau Open Grand Prix Gold title by defeating Canada's Michelle Li on December 1, 2013.She was awarded Arjun Award by Government of India

2015-In 2015, She received India's fourth highest civilian honor Padma Shri awarded on 30 March 2015

2012-She broke into the top 20 in the Badminton World Federation rankings which were released on 21 September 2012.

2014-PV Sindhu created history by becoming the first Indian to win two back-to-back medals in the World Badminton Championships.PV Sindhu has reached semifinal of the world cup in Denmark
